Our Work: The Kelvin

The Kelvin, Washington, DC
Custom leather hide acoustic panels

At a luxury apartment building beside Nationals Park in Washington, Snap-Wall helped architects realize their vision for some high-impact design features. To create dramatic wall panels, Snap-Wall acquired raw leather hides that were tanned deep red, then tackled the challenging task of turning irregular-shaped hides into square, upholstered panels. The process involved creating mockups to ensure the fabrication process would deliver the designed puffiness and finish, then adjusting cutting and seaming lines on the final panels to work around irregular edges or imperfections in the hides. The end result was a high-impact design feature.
